Unit arrived as described - in great condition/original packaging (although there is a significant transformer hum, I read that it's a common issue on early TX81Z units and may be fixed by adding a metal shield around the transformer). (Fed-ex handled the package very carefully and the original box is just fine, but I would recommend double boxing in future.)
