The MD 409 U3 is a legendary dynamic microphone that is incredible sounding on anything needing a dynamic microphone that can handle a lot of SPL without choking.

The 409 has has become one of those uncommon sought after products from the past among many recording pros worldwide.

It sounds fantastic on guitar cabinets, and conveniently, can be used without a mic stand by hanging the mic in front of the speaker. Some engineers say it is unbeatable for that application. It also shines on drums (toms, congas), trumpet, sax and woodwinds. Very smooth and desirable sound on saxophone. It also has a very nice sound for vocalist who needs a warmer vocal mic to take harshness down and give a thicker tone.

I purchased five of these in the late 1980s and they have only known life in a professional non-smoking recording studio. Four have survived and are all for sale separately as I am liquidating much of my studio equipment as part of a downsizing. One of the photos in the set displays the serial number of the specific unit in question. Note that two of the mics for sale are sequential numbers. They have all been well cared for and are fully functioning. They show the typical signs of use.

These are not easy to find at a good price, so snatch a couple up while you can.
