These passive (non-powered) studio monitors are in great shape and fully functional. They were originally purchased in the late ’90s and have only known life in a professional non-smoking recording studio.
They sound fantastic! Extremely well balanced and true. They are from the earlier days of KRK when they used the legendary Focal drivers and developed their great brand reputation in the professional recording industry. I am only selling as part of downsizing my studio.
The drivers include a 7-inch kevlar woofer, and the awesome 1-inch inverted kevlar tweeter that Focal became known for. The inverted design is more costly to manufacture, but is more rigid than standard tweeters and thus has improved distortion characteristics.
The overall design is extremely well thought out, with a front port at the bottom, the professional double-banana power inputs, the time aligned design of the front baffle, as well as the rounded edges to minimize diffraction issues that can smear the stereo sound field.
