Ideal for professional recording and critical applications, this versatile microphone may be used with confidence in a wide variety of professional applications. Featuring direct-coupled balanced outputs for clean signals in high-output conditions, it is free of the distortion associated with conventional transformer-coupled outputs. Its fast response to transients contributes to the open, transparent reproduction of even the most difficult-to-capture instruments. This all makes it a very clean, clear and accurate microphone.
This microphone was originally purchased around 2014 and has only known life in a professional non-smoking recording studio. It is fully functional and sounds great. It has been used mostly on acoustic guitars, delicate orchestral instruments, as a drum overhead, a hi-hat mic, and other percussion instruments. Its fast transient response makes it particularly effective at capturing the nuances of delicate instruments or various types of percussion.
It has a 10dB pad switch and an 80 Hz low-cut (hi-pass) switch included in the body.
The AT4051b consists of two modular subassemblies: an AT4900b-48 body and an AT4051b-EL cardioid head capsule. Additional interchangeable capsules are available in omnidirectional (AT4049b-EL) and hypercardioid (AT4053b-EL).
It comes in the case with the mic clip, as shown in the photo. Requires 48V phantom power to operate.
