Up for sale is a 1980s Gibson Les Paul Custom in Ebony with an ebony fingerboard (Serial Number: 80423602). This model features the dual factory humbuckers and an original, factory-installed Kahler tremolo system, which provides tremolo capability without routing all the way through the body, preserving the classic Les Paul tone.
I purchased this guitar in 1986 from Ron Zehel’s Guitars in Lorain, Ohio, and have been the sole owner since. It saw heavy live use, playing hundreds of shows in a college band between 1987 and 1992, and continued working in the Chicago underground bar circuit from 1992 to 1995. Since that time, it has been kept comfortably as a visual display piece.
The guitar is in Good condition and is 100% functional, with honest cosmetic wear consistent with its playing history. There is one paint chip on the front of the body. The back of the neck shows some scratching, and the back of the body has noticeable belt buckle wear. The gold hardware has been worn and tarnished since prior to my purchase in 1986.
