Cranborne Audio Brick Lane 500 Modal PWM Compressor — Mint-Plus Condition.

Minimal rack time, no marks on the faceplate, all 41-way detented pots feel tight and precise, LED meters fully functional. Visually and mechanically it could pass for "new" -- or at least open-box.

The Brick Lane 500 is a genuinely unusual compressor: a fully analogue Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) design rather than the VCA, opto, or FET topologies most 500-series units use. It offers six distinct compression "modes" — Velvet, Float, Smash, Tame, Glue, and Polish — each restyling the unit's ratio, knee, ballistics, and compression character, effectively giving you six different compressor personalities in one module. A proprietary Stress control adds harmonic saturation that behaves differently in every mode, from subtle tube-style warmth to aggressive transient coloration. Polish mode adds Cranborne's Analogue Lookahead circuit for zero-latency, mastering-grade limiting.

Technical specs are serious: ±0.5dB frequency response from 2Hz–80kHz, dynamic range over 118dB, and sub-0.001% THD at most gain-reduction settings. Threshold, variable-range attack/release, four selectable sidechain HPF points (60Hz, 100Hz, 200Hz, off), and ±20dB of input/output trim round out the control set. Two units can be linked wirelessly via Cranborne's OptoSync system for perfectly matched stereo operation with no linking cables required.

Built to the standard Cranborne is known for — auto-calibrated analogue paths, stepped detented controls for repeatable recall, true-bypass switching — this is a boutique-grade processor with real mastering and mix-bus pedigree, not a novelty module.

Original retail packaging, and the unit itself shows no signs of use or wear. It's indistinguishable from new.

New retail on the Brick Lane 500 runs $699 (with no ongoing discounting). This is a fairly new, boutique-volume product, so there isn't an established 12-month Reverb sold-price history to pull from — only a single current marketplace listing was found, with no visible completed sales data. Based on new pricing and how comparably boutique 500-series processors typically hold value on the used market (roughly 75–80% of retail for mint condition, given steady demand and limited depreciation on niche pro-audio hardware), a fair asking price is $525–$565.
