Used Fender Musicmaster, blond finish, with vintage hard shell tan case. Guitar is listed as good, electronics functional, but the guitar has numerous dings, dents, marks, and scratches throughout the body. I would say the cosmetic condition straddles the position between good and fair. However, the blond finish has yellowed nicely. There are areas of wear on the back of the neck which can be felt, especially one large thumb-sized area located at the 7th-8th fret. Frets also have some wear. The CTS pot codes that can be read date production to the 13th week of 1976. An online serial number decoder also dates the guitar to 1976. Neck and neck pocket have no dates or codes that I can decipher.
Fret wear is visible in the cowboy chord area, but I would consider moderate with no extensive divots. There are also some finger indents on the fretboard, bass side frets 5-7, that stand out to your eye.
Pickup has a fair amount of single-coil hum. I used this guitar with a HumDebugger.
Case is in fair shape, but shows signs of decay, with the stitching falling apart. Latches work, but the 3' latch does not pop up on contact, requires hand manipulation. 5' latch and middle latch are good. Case feet are intact, but the case does not stand upright when placed in its normal position perpendicular to the floor, will tip over if not supported.
Pro setup with D'Addario 9-42 gauge strings, Dec. 2025.
