Reynolds Emperor single French horn in F in working condition with hard case. An old high school horn, made in Abilene, TX (guessing in the '70s), serial number 684097. Please look at pictures and read description carefully to avoid disappointment as I don't accept returns.
Pros:
-Good compression on all valves (tuning slides all "pop" when pulled)
-All slides and valves are free and smooth
-Straight leadpipe, plays in tune, easy playing in beginner range (Written F below middle C to written C above middle C)
-Lacquer mostly intact
-Newly oiled and restrung valves
-Lightweight
-Has had a home clean, but not a chem clean.
-Original hard case with good handle and all latches work.
Cons:
-Red rot throughout leadpipe area and in a couple of other spots
-Patched area on leadpipe (see picture).
-Minor dents, scratches, and lacquer wear throughout
-Padding in case has broken down so a bit looser fit for this horn, lining has been mended in a few spots.
-School markings and scuffs on case, rust on case hinge.
-No idea how it happened, but there is ink spilled on the case lining.
-No mouthpiece.
Overall a good beginner horn, the red rot should not cause issues for quite a while. Good option if you're just wanting to mess around, have a horn of your own over summer break, or use for studio decor or parts.
