The JAM Pedals Rattler MkII is the Greek boutique builder’s evolved take on the legendary ProCo RAT — and it’s one of the most refined Rat-style distortion pedals on the market. At its core are the familiar Level, Gain, and Tone controls, but the MkII goes considerably further. JAM developed a custom discrete-component op-amp to replace the long-discontinued LM308 chip, preserving the open, dynamic, tube-amp feel the original was famous for while adding new dimensions of versatility. A clipping toggle lets you switch between symmetrical (smooth, thick, classic RAT grind) and asymmetrical modes (more open, less compressed, with extra bite), while a dedicated mid-boost footswitch adds a custom-voiced punch that cuts through any mix — and it’s far more than just a volume bump. Each pedal features JAM’s signature hand-painted finish, meaning no two are exactly alike. The result is a big, meaty distortion that thickens single notes without going mushy, responds beautifully to picking dynamics, and covers everything from light overdrive to full-on aggressive grind.
