This is a Latin Percussion Tito Puente Signature Series Timbales set from the 1970s, featuring brass shells. It is in good working order and fully functional, with some imperfections typical of a used instrument from its era.
Inspired by Tito Puente, 'The King of Timbale,' these timbales offer a sound capable of filling a large hall. This particular set has a notable history, having been played by percussionists of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra from 1975 to 2010 in concerts and on recordings.
The brass shells display a natural patina, which enhances their vintage appeal. All materials are clean and solid with no missing parts. The set includes new REMO SKYNTONE timbale heads, which emulate the sound of traditional calf heads, suitable for Latin music, salsa, jazz, and other genres where a cutting timbale sound is desired.
Technical specifications include 14" and 15" diameter brass shells, each 6-1/2" deep, designed for a superior cutting cascara sound. Traditional tuning is supported, and a tuning wrench is included. The original, circa 1970s, double-braced, chrome, heavy-duty timbale stand is part of the set, offering full height adjustability from 29” to 47”.
Please examine all photos carefully as they are part of the description and accurately represent the condition of the drums. Feel free to ask any questions before purchasing.
