For sale: 1998 Ludwig Black Galaxy snare drum with the original 'UFO' style hard plastic case in excellent condition.
The Ludwig Acrolite Black Galaxy snare drum, often affectionately called the "Blacrolite," is a highly regarded aluminum-shell snare that was produced primarily from the mid-1990s through the 2000s. Known for its crisp "crack," warm sensitivity, and dry articulation, it is exceptionally versatile across tuning ranges and is often cited as a more affordable alternative to the legendary Ludwig Supraphonic. It features a 14" x 5" seamless aluminum shell finished in a "Black Galaxy" sparkle powder coat... this thick finish gives it a slightly drier, tighter sound compared to the classic "naked" brushed aluminum Acrolites. Standard models came with 8 chrome-plated "Bow-Tie" lugs. Equipped with a Ludwig P85 throw-off and a single-cup internal felt muffler with an external round adjustment knob.
