Ravel by Gemeinhardt Bb Bass Clarinet – Low Eb, Composite Body, Silver Keys, Yamaha/Vito-Style Design
This Ravel by Gemeinhardt Bb bass clarinet is a clean, low-use composite-body instrument with Yamaha/Vito-style design, fully set up and ready to play.
It is fully playable across the entire range and presents in very clean, low-use condition.
The instrument is set up and ready to play, with even response throughout all registers and stable intonation. It is well-suited for student players, doublers, and ensemble use, offering dependable functionality in a familiar ergonomic layout.
Body & Condition
The body is constructed from ABS composite material with a brushed, wood-grain style finish. The design and ergonomics closely follow Yamaha/Vito-style instruments rather than Bundy-style designs. The neck and bell are metal, and the instrument includes a floor peg.
Overall condition is very good to excellent, with light cosmetic wear consistent with minimal use. There are no major dents or damage to the neck or bell, which are commonly found on used bass clarinets. Minor dings, scratches, and scuffs may be present from normal handling. The bottom tenon is in good condition with no chips or breaks. A piece of tape is currently holding the thumb rest in place; it appears secure without it, but it will remain in place as a precaution.
Original painted logos and the stamped serial number have worn off due to normal handling and cleaning, though the “Ravel” marking remains visible on the bell. Construction details and design confirm identification.
Pads, Corks & Mechanism
White leather pads (likely goatskin) - Pads are very clean and appear lightly used
Fully playable across the entire range
Even response from low to high
Several springs (primarily LH / lower joint) show early signs of fatigue. Recently adjusted, but may need to be changed soon. Spring wear not currently affecting playability but may require future replacement.
