This is a 2009 Gibson SG Classic in Heritage Cherry, serial number 007290545, made in the USA. The SG Classic is Gibson's P90 equipped take on the SG, inspired directly by the mid-60s SG Special that Pete Townshend, Carlos Santana and Robby Krieger made famous. It shares the same mahogany body and neck construction as the standard SG but pairs it with two soap bar P90 single coil pickups wound with Alnico V magnets and 42 AWG wire, delivering that characteristic combination of midrange thickness, bite and clarity that humbuckers simply can't replicate.
Solid mahogany body with the classic beveled double cutaway shape. One piece mahogany neck with a rounded profile set into the body. Bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid dot inlays. The large five ply black pickguard is intact. Chrome hardware throughout with a Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece. Gibson Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons at the headstock.
The condition is excellent. The Heritage Cherry gloss finish is clean and vibrant with the mahogany grain showing beautifully on both front and back. The back in particular has nice figure in the wood. No notable dings, cracks or checking anywhere on the body or neck. Frets have minimal wear. All electronics are original and fully functional with no scratching or dropout on any controls.
The SG Classic with P90s puts this guitar in a genuinely different tonal category than the humbucker SG variants. It covers everything from clean chimey tones through to full on grind and responds extremely well to playing dynamics in a way that makes it feel alive under your hands. These originally shipped in a Gibson Gig bag, but it has gone missing along the way and the guitar includes a TSA hardshell SG case.
