Singer RC1K-IT All Solid Koa Concert Ukulele by aNueNue

Singer is a brand made by aNueNue, to the same exacting standards as they usually provide, but with more of a nod towards vintage style ukuleles. This RC1K-IT has an all solid Hawaiian koa body, with an attractive sunburst under the gloss finish, allowing the koa grain to show through. They call this ‘Ice Tea’, which is where the ‘IT’ comes from in the product code. There’s another vintage not with the headstock shape, a headstock that’s fitted with Gotoh UPT geared rear-facing tuners. These are Japanese made and are lightweight and super smooth - great bits of kit.
Singer ukes are built to have more of a vintage-inspired tone, with a nice ‘bark’ and warmth. That’s certainly the case with the RC1K-IT, with warmth and sweetness from the koa pairing with that shimmer and fullness from the thin top and bracing pattern they’ve used to elicit such a response.
This concert uke has an impeccable gloss finish, with 36mm nut width. A touch above standard for a little extra room, but not so wide that it feels unfamiliar. There’s a slighty radiussed fretboard too, with the almost impercetible curve of the frets matching the natural curve of your finger. Many people swear by this as giving a more comfortable playing experience.
