I purchased this item new from Sweetwater in 2012 for $1,400. Before I could get it out of the box, I upgraded my studio to the point the MC Control was not needed. It has remained in the box since that time.
The Euphonix MC Control is a control surface that uses a high-resolution touchscreen and the high-speed EuCon protocol to provide deep, hands-on control over various digital audio workstations (DAWs) and media applications. Euphonix was acquired by Avid in 2010, and the products were rebranded under the Avid Artist Series.
Key Features
Touchscreen Interface: Features an 800x480 pixel, LED-backlit touchscreen that provides intuitive navigation, displays track names, metering, automation modes, and fader/pan values. It also allows for the customization of "soft keys" with specific commands, text, and color-coded icons to streamline workflows.
EuCon Protocol: This high-speed Ethernet-based protocol enables simultaneous control of multiple applications and workstations with much higher resolution and speed than traditional MIDI. The surface is "application-aware," automatically updating its controls and touchscreen display to match the foreground application.
Physical Controls: The unit is equipped with four 100mm touch-sensitive, motorized faders, eight touch-sensitive rotary encoders with on-screen displays, 12 assignable soft keys, and dedicated transport controls with a jog/shuttle/zoom wheel.
Expandability: The MC Control can function as a standalone device or be expanded by connecting up to four additional MC Mix units for a total of 36 faders, allowing for a scalable setup tailored to complex projects.
Compatibility: It integrates seamlessly with major EUCON-enabled DAWs such as Avid Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, and Nuendo. It also supports HUI and Mackie Control protocols for limited functionality with non-EUCON-aware applications.
Design: The compact design is intended to fit between a computer keyboard and monitor, acting as a "nerve center" for a studio setup.
The EuCon software, which facilitates this integration, is still supported by Avid, and the latest versions can be downloaded from the Avid website.
Don't wait to take advantage of this almost 50% discount on what is essentially a "new" unit. If you combine it with the Euphonix 8 Fader Control that I also have listed for sale, then you will have an "instant studio" with increased flexibility, productivity, and creativity!
