This gorgeous and hard-to-find Steinberger ZT3 is in near-MINT condition, plays ultra-fast, and sounds PHENOMENAL! All hardware---including the transtrem---and electronics are original and work flawlessly. This axe is also lightweight, weighing only 6lbs 2oz. on my digital shipping scale.
While finding any ZT3 these days in prime condition is difficult, this piece is particularly special because it was one of the original prototypes that Gibson made of this model. This piece was originally purchased from Gibson/Epiphone directly in TN as a prototype. I have had a couple of ZT3s, and the only differences that I notice are that it doesn't have the "Steinberger" logo on the body and the 3-way pickup switch is different hardware from the first year (2008) production version. The pickups, transtrem, and other elements seem to be identical to the 2008s.
The piece is also in near-MINT condition. In fact, I believe that most sellers would rate it as mint, so my rating is conservative. After a careful inspection, I can't find any notable imperfections or signs of wear. There might be a stray pick swirl or other faint mark that I may have missed, but that is it. No dings, dents, scratches, fret wear, etc. While in my possession, it has been played very little and has spent the majority of its time in its gigbag.
The original soft case (no logo either), transtrem bar, tools, and paperwork pictured included with purchase. These documents include a copy of the original sales receipt that lists the guitar as a "proto" as well as a 2008 Steinberger catalog and a copy of the ZT3 owners manual. Lastly, the guitar will be expertly packed with plenty of bracing and soft filler material to ensure safe transport to its new home.
