This guitar speaks to the very heart of why Black Sheep Music Equipment was formed - to provide quality and affordable vintage instruments.

This unbranded vintage 1960's electric guitar was built by the famous FujiGen Gakki plant (which later produced Fender Japan guitars) during a time when "surf rock" was king and the Beatles were storming the airwaves. This affordable guitar represented the mainstream entry into electric guitar music during an era where these types of electric instruments found the hands of average aspiring musicians on a broad scale for the first time in history.

This instrument is fully original and set up for optimal playing condition. Signal is clean and all components work perfectly. The action is currently .05" at the 12th fret and the instrument plays very comfortably.

This is a piece of functional history. In the early 1960's, US music distributors began importing high quality but affordable instruments from Japan to bring the joy of music to those of us who can't afford the top shelf prices that Fender and Gibson were commanding at the time. Many famous guitarists who later pioneered eras of modern music started as a kid with something like this. Just imagine who might have learned on this one?

This guitar was made in one of the most famous of these factories, FujiGen Gakki. As was the common practice by US importers at the time, it may have been originally branded "St. George," "Guyatone," or "Greco" (among others sourced from that factory) for import. The guitar currently has no branding and may even have shipped and sold in the US that way originally.

What we do know is that all the hardware is original and fully functional and that this guitar is a truly vintage instrument that remains affordable today. This instrument has recently undergone a full professional cleaning, inspection, and setup in our shop and comes with a deluxe gig bag.

There is evidence of normal wear and tear for an instrument around 60 years old, please inspect photos closely for details. The structure is sound and the neck is straight, this guitar is ready to rock!
