The Zildjian Pang is a distinctive and now discontinued cymbal that combines characteristics of a ride cymbal and a China cymbal.
Sound:
It produces a unique, "trashy," and exotic sound with unusual depth and spread. It has an explosive, fast attack and quick decay, making it suitable for both crash effects and washy ride patterns.
Design:
The cymbal features a conventional, rounded bell but an unusual flat or slightly upturned outer rim (flange), which contributes to its unique tone.
Material:
Like other Avedis Zildjian cymbals, it is crafted from the company's proprietary B20 bronze alloy (80% copper and 20% tin)
Versatility:
It was originally designed to create new and exciting sounds for a wide range of genres, from rock to jazz to avant-garde music, and can be modified with rivets for a sustained sizzle effect.
