8x12, 14x14, 14x18
Recent acquisition that may be the best sounding Gretsch I've ever had, but a needed shop upgrade requires some cash. 14 and bd have tags from 2004. 12 is 60s Round Badge, no tag. They play beautifully together. They have the same blue/silver duco finish, but the color of the 12 is a bit darker. The 12 has both mufflers. It has 4 small holes from old tom mounts, two of which are covered by the mount. There's also a bit of chipped lacquer under the new mount. The 14 has a bottom muffler, and no extra holes, so I assume it was ordered that way. The bd came with the bottom section of a Gibraltar rail. I replaced it with a DW, which fit the existing holes perfectly. There is a bit of weird discoloration under the old mount. The bd hoops are not original, and the batter hoop has a cutout for a riser. I replaced the floor tom legs that came with it - which were smooth chrome and didn't hold well - with 3/8 Gibraltar legs. There were no gaskets under the ft leg mounts, and that kept the legs from clearing the hoops. I cut and installed some leather gaskets and they are just thick enough. This kit has all kinds of vibe, and it does really sound terrific.
