(Please read full description, especially the note about the electronics, below:)
This is a 2023 model SG Special that I bought more than a year ago as a ‘husk’ that had no hardware or electronics. As a result it is substantially different than a 'stock' Gibson SG Special. Here is what I installed on the guitar:
- Pigtail aluminum intonable wraparound bridge
- Stew Mac SG wiring harness (one of the pots broke and was replaced with another 500k pot)
- Zhangbucker Blues 90 (bridge) and Cherrick (neck) P-90s w/black covers
- Gotoh 3+3 vintage style tuners w/conversion bushings
- Previous owner had replaced the nut
NOTE: There is something awry with the tone or volume pot wiring, for the neck pickup position. When on the neck (or middle) position on the selector switch, the high frequencies seem to come and go intermittently, sort of like a 'wah-wah' sound. My hunch is that there is maybe a bad wiring connection that could be fixed by re-wiring or cleaning up the connections. If not that, I would guess maybe a bad pot? If not that, I don't know. Plan on doing some work on the electronics.
I had intended to fix this myself but have realized I won't get around to it any time soon and simply want to recover some of the money I put in to the guitar and let someone else with more skill or time have a crack at it. Hence the price, and the listing as "fair" condition.
Some light (superficial) scratches in the clearcoat at various places on the guitar, more on the back than the front.
No case, but will ship double-boxed & secure. Any questions, please ask.
