Up for sale is a vintage 1965 gibson es335 in sunburst with a factory Maestro Vibrola.
I just polished the frets, conditioned the fretboard and set up with 10-46 gauge strings. It’s ready for a new home.
The guitar plays well with low action, and the frets show minor wear.
It has been estimated that roughly ~2,238 ES-335’s were made in 1965 and only ~ 781 were in sunburst. Examples from this year with a factory maestro vibrola are quite rare since these were only available via special order, although no official number on how many were made with a factory maestro vibrola is available.
Comes with original hardshell case (all latches work on case, shows signs of wear but no breaks or repairs).
All original, including original sticker patent number pickups and electronics.
Only thing not original is the nut and truss rod cover.
This example shows beautiful finish checking and other wear throughout the body that show that this guitar was loved and played throughout its life.
Guitar has been refretted and guitar has had a headstock repair (back of neck from fifth fret to headstock has been refinished).
Shop I got it from could not provide much information on who did the refret and headstock repair, but both appear to be well done.
