About the pickups:
Duane Allman was using a custom wound set of humbuckers by Mike Ladd at the Fillmore East. And this is the set. Once you hear them, you will understand.
If you are searching for that fat woody tone and response with drive that remains articulate in every note then the Peacock Set of Humbuckers are what you are looking for. If you are searching for the Allman Tone this is the set. Wound to exact specifications as first created in 1971 for several legendary guitar players.
The Bridge pickup has the power to drive your amp into saturation & sustain while keeping control with your guitars volume knob. You literally can dial in a Vintage PAF tone to the Duane Allman tone and response with your guitars volume knob. And there is more in between.
The Neck pickup has all of the clarity that the bridge position has with a cello like sustain and natural woody tone. If you need more it is as simple as turning your volume knob up on the guitar and listen to the response. It has plenty of drive and sustain.
Duane also used a 1 Meg Potentiometer in the bridge volume position.
