Overall: 5-Stars
I'm sold on Breedlove guitars. Again, I have repaired and setup thousands of guitars and these guitars are wonderful. Do I have an alternate preference of a guitar, I would like to have? Of course I do. I would love to have a handmade James A. Olsen guitar, but $12,000.00 to $16,000.00 is not in the cards for me. I've played two of them and they are far and above the quality of any guitar you have ever played, just ask James Taylor or David Crosby. For my money, Breedloves suit me just fine...
Sound
As we all know, acoustic guitars acquire better tone, sustain and volume with age and having been 'played in'. Considering the 'off the shelf' tonal quality of the Breedlove Cascade C25/CRe, you cannot go wrong with this guitar. It is not a Martin or a Taylor, but exhibits a tone and sustain that belongs solely to Breedlove guitars and is equally distinctive. Because I play with other performers owning the aforementioned guitar brands, my tone is separate, identifiable and stands apart from my partners guitars when we play together...
Features
This is a solid wood guitar, top, sides and back with a western red cedar top. In this price range it cannot be beat in this price range. It is Korean built, but the build quality is the best Asia has to offer, bar none. My only suggestion is if you buy one and like it, have a bone nut and saddle made for it. It will only throw icing on the cake of sound quality...
Ease of Use
Playability out of the box is very good, but let's face it, I don't care what brand of guitar you buy or how expensive it is, IT NEEDS A SETUP to suit your playing style. As the owner of a guitar repair shop, I have setup thousands of guitars, watching the owners play before and after a good setup to make sure it suits their personal taste and how they want their guitar to play. If your guitar tech or luthier won't take time to personalize your setup, you need to find another one...
Quality
From the easy turning tuning keys to the woods, grain alignment and finishing, there are no cut corners and will stand shoulder to shoulder with guitars twice its cost. Keep it humidified and properly adjusted, and this guitar will offer a lifetime of playing and tonal enjoyment. Proper care is the key to ANY acoustic guitar’s life expectancy no matter how much you pay for it...
Value
The best bang for the buck you'll get from any guitar in the $1000.00 to $1500.00 price range...
Manufacturer Support
I've never had to call Breedlove. That's a good thing...
The Wow Factor
I bought a Breedlove Atlas AD25/SR Plus 4 years ago and love the guitar. I wanted to add a concert style guitar for a little brighter tonal response to my performances. I looked at 7 other manufacturers with guitars in the same price range (yes, including Martins and Taylors), and could not find the build quality, solid woods and finished body and top that Breedlove guitars offer. With satin-finished guitars, if you tap it with a fingernail, you have a ding, which is not acceptable.
