This Gon Bops plastic crescent-shaped tambourine is part of a series of four models, now discontinued. Very ergonomic and a better tone in my opinion than the LP models. They come with the V-Grip for mounting, which is easily released for standard hand-held vs. drum kit playing.
As with many other percussion instruments, I bought several but only need one or two, and decided I slightly prefer the non-crescent-shaped model from Gon Bops. I never mount mine on a drum kit.
These were $85 new. Only a few are still available on other sites as New Old Stock. The three two models were a "trash" sound in white, and a brass jingle tambourine in yellow. Both have a softer sound that doesn't cut through as well. I also briefly had the red/steel model for sale but it was gone in a flash.
Although steel and aluminum sound a bit different, they both have good attack and a cutting high pitch sound compared to brass, copper, bronze, etc. These are the metals associated with rock, but they work well in other genres as well.
These have never been gigged or exposed to smoke, and have barely been played. I have put them up for $40 each, which is less than half price. As with all my sales, the more you buy, the more you save.
