I purchased this for drum lessons. The idea of being able to record audio and video simultaneously was exactly what I was looking for!
Unfortunately, the app for Android is nothing if not next to useless. Three different Android devices, three different problems. Crashing, freezing, not recording audio and/or video, etc. This is apparently a common problem for the Android app and Yamaha doesn't seem all that interested in fixing it.
It does work with a DAW (used Cakewalk), but that's audio only and not exactly what I bought it for.
However, if you do have an Apple product of any kind, it works as intended. Had a friend bring over their Ipad and Iphone and their connection cable -- worked like a charm.
That being said, I don't have the required cable for Apple products, so you'll have to pick one of those up for yourself.
I wouldn't recommend purchasing if you have an Android product. Nor would I recommend for a DAW as you could probably get a USB interface and a mic or two for cheaper if audio is all you're looking for.
But if you're looking and have Apple stuff it's a pretty darn cool device.
