1974 Ovation Balladeer model 1111-6 deep bowl, acoustic dreadnought 6 string guitar, made in the USA, SN# 023539. This guitar is in excellent condition, no blemishes, no alterations, and the intonation is perfect. The top-grade Sitka spruce top and deep bowl give it a full well-rounded sound with superior sound projection. Ovation guitar design reflects its founder's engineering training and development of Kaman helicopters. Ovation guitars replace the instrument's conventional back and sides with composite synthetic bowls. Kaman felt there were structural weaknesses in the orthogonal joining of the sides, and that a composite material could provide a smooth body. And, being a '74 issue, this one dates from the time when they made the bowl from the same material as Kaman used to make helicopter blades.
The original case is in good condition, structurally sound with just a few scuffs. This guitar has been kept in its case in a temperature-controlled environment when not in use.
