This was my fifth Jazzmaster, and the best one I've owned (including American Vintage). But I am sizing down and have decided that I don't need a JM. Note that this is the first version of the American Pro, so it has the altered switching circuitry and a slightly different pickup from the current revision.
This guitar has a unique sound, somewhat compressed, but I only use guitars in the studio (I'm a bassist) so the versatility of this instrument for live use is irrelevant in my case. I mostly use Strats.
Tim Shaw apparently designed the V-Mod pickup series, and I love his pickup for the 70th Anniversary Esquire. His goal is to recreate the favorite tones of the 50's through 70's.
The instrument has never left my house or been exposed to smoke. It did get a professional setup from someone who works on instruments for Journey and other top bands, and he improved the string tree (the original is in the case).
As with most guitars, I try many different types of strings to get a feel for the full range of the instrument. I just this weekend replaced the Pyramid round wounds with their flatwounds, round core, and feel these give by far the best balance in sound and feel of anything available.
I have some unused/unopened string sets to throw in if you're one of those people who hates flatwounds. I have been moving towards flats and especially round core strings on almost everything.
I do not yet have a shipping box, so it is local-only for now. These were $2000 originally (including the $180 case) and have wildly varying prices in the used market, so I hit the mid-point and put the low end as the accepted offer limit.
