CONTEXT/HISTORY: I am an honest person. I will only represent my gear in an accurate manner. Check out my reviews. With that...I always take really great care with my musical gear--treat it gently--handle it carefully. I bought this amplifier as a backup--but have never needed to use it in any live situations. It's only been used a handful of times for recording purposes--and has never even been out of my smoke free/pet free home studio. It's in perfect condition both mechanically and cosmetically.

CONDITION: Mint

Mint condition items are completely blemish-free and have not been modified in any way. If there are any blemishes and/or modifications, the item needs to be listed as a condition less than mint.

In short, this amp is perfect in every way. Just trying to tell you what you are getting. For an amp in this professional class and with the reputation of MESA--and being one of it's very top of the line bass amplifiers, this is a really good opportunity for someone who has always wanted to try a WD800, but just wasn't all the way there. You are going to receive an awesome product!

Carry bag, power cord, original box and packaging materials, and original tags all included.

SHIPPING: FREE (CONUS) This will include both insurance and a required delivery signature.

MY DESCRIPTION: This Mesa WD800 is an incredible bass amplifier. Made by a company that stands firmly behind their products--with outstanding customer service--this equipment truly is top of the line. There is a ton of power and options for mixing and matching speaker cabinets: 300/400/800 Watts into single or dual 4 and 8 Ohm cabinets, with a minimum 2 Ohm load. Power is RMS and probably underrated somewhat--meaning--this amp has considerable power! If you don't understand the watts and ohms thing, just ask and I can explain that in more detail to make sure it will work with whatever cabinet configuration you currently have (or are considering getting). I'm happy to help make sure you know what you are getting and how to set it up.

On the front of the amp is a Mute Switch for standby mode before a show and between sets. There is an Active/Passive Switch capable of adapting to higher and lower input instruments. The Input dial works in conjunction with the Master Volume and both can be manipulated to create cleaner or more driven/gritty/tube driven tones. The Variable High Pass Filter works to tame any boominess in a venue (hollow stages/boxy rooms)--but also works wonderfully in conjunction with the bass (and low-mid) EQ section for shaping the low end response.

In addition to separate Bass and Treble Tone Controls, there is an active, Semi-Parametric EQ section with three separate variable frequency slots (80Hz-1KHz; 150Hz-2.5KHz and 300Hz-5KHz)--or more simply, low-mid, middle-mid and high-mid range frequencies. This means you can really shape/sculpt the specific frequencies you want to emphasize (or deemphasize!) with considerable impact at +/- 12 dB. An additional Passive Mid Tone Control provides an edge or softer shape--on top of the semi-parametric EQ. There is a Power Amp Damping Control which governs the feel of the output--from a softer/bloomy (low) to a stricter/tighter (high). Basically, there is no shortage of tone control--meaning you can find any number of really pleasing sounds for different genres of music.

On the back side...there are Two Speakon Connections. There is an Effects Loop--for running effects after the preamp (though effects can go between the instrument and the main preamp input as well)--and/or both. There is a 2 Ohm to 4/8 Ohm Input Impedance Selector--for distributing different amounts of power to your cabinets (cabinet/ohm variable). A USB Device Power is built right into the amp--for charging anything from an effect to your iPhone, etc. There is a Tuner Output and of course there is an Auxiliary Input for playing music through your speakers, along with a Headphones Jack for silent play (along with music from the Aux Input). Enough? Not quite!

One Of My Favorite Things About Mesa is their Studio Quality DI Output. You can send either a "pre" or "post" and "mic" or "line" level signal to a mixing board--depending on what you want/need for the place you are playing. The "pre" sounds excellent all by itself when it is sent directly to the main FOH (front of house) speakers! Not only that, the DI "pre" signal operates independently of the Input/Master Volume and EQ controls, meaning you can alter your stage sound to your heart's content without messing up the volume at the FOH. That's a very, very nice feature for live playing!

MESA Builds High Quality Bass Amplifiers. This amp will last a very, very long time. If you've been thinking about trying a WD800 and the time just wasn't right, well, here is a really great opportunity. Again, I am a completely honest seller--and will tell you whatever you want to know. I have just ended up with too many "new/mint" amplifiers in my studio--and I need to make some space! This amp gets a ton of "love" from professional, touring bass players. It's a professional quality instrument, in perfect working and cosmetic order. This is a fair price for the very minty shape it is in. I’m not a store. Just a bass player.
