Hagstrom RetroScape H8-II-WCT 8-String Electric Bass Guitar (Wild Cherry Transparent Finish) (2018), w/ Ibanez IGB541-BE PowerPad Designer Collection Bass Guitar Gig Bag (Beige), and an extra set of expensive RotoSound strings (hard to find as 8-string sets are rare!).

NOTE: If this doesn't get an offer ASAP, I will return it to local-only sale, as I just put a Fender Telecaster high-end model up for sale and it would need this same shipping box.

You could think of this as the Cheap Trick Bass, as they are known for using 8-string basses and mandocellos, but several 60's bands used 8-string basses as well. It's the same concept as a 12-string guitar, paired in octaves, but the higher octave string isn't very loud due to large string gauge (and height) differences, so it mostly just adds a nice shimmer vs. a distracting parallel note.
One thing about this bass model is that it more or less uses the Fender Jaguar switching system. Kind of like a Bass VI too in that regard. There is also a choke switch above the fingerboard.
The bag is close to $100 new, and the bass, which may be out of production at this point, is about $1100 new (sans bag/case) and due to rarity is being posted at $1000 sans bag/case.
Mine has only been played a couple of times in my smoke-free home studio. It's a wonderful instrument but I can't justify keeping something I'm not going to play much, given the never-ending bills of the money pit of a house that I bought here, which is sinking me quickly. The bag has a secure neck fastener inside, which is especially great on an instrument like this that has a large headstock to accommodate the extra strings.
A note on the string set, as I did a lot of research first, and most people said the RotoSound set is the most balanced between the string pairs and across the octaves. I feel this set is perfectly balanced and that it is doubtful any of the few other 8-string sets available would work well on this bass.
Please note that this a local pickup sale (or delivery to North Carolina if sold soon, as I'm making a return visit), as I do not currently have any shipping boxes for large instruments and freight costs have also skyrocketed.

I am reluctantly offering this to non-locals, despite shipping costs skyrocketing this year and the large differential between west coast and east coast (we're only allowed to offer a set price, in advance), as 8-string basses are a novelty item, but several non-locals almost bought it earlier, and I now have a smaller box to use.
52x19x6 (maybe 7 if there's a bulge), 14 lbs for guitar in bag, 4 lbs for box before adding packing materials, probably total 20-24 lbs but weight is a minor factor in shipping costs and sometimes inconsequential; distance and dimensions matter the most. Plus insurance.
I set the shipping price to the lowest east coast estimate, with me eating the insurance cost. West coast people are essentially getting a minimum $75 discount on shipping as this site doesn't allow time-of-sale shipping prices.
