How do I enable two-step verification?
Two-step verification adds an extra layer of security to your Gear Exchange account by requiring a second form of confirmation when you sign in. This helps protect your account, listings, and payouts from unauthorized access.
Why Two-step Verification is Important
Passwords alone can be compromised through phishing, data breaches, or reuse across multiple sites. Two-step verification helps prevent this by requiring something only you have, such as a verification code sent to your phone or generated by an authenticator app.
With two-step verification enabled, even if someone knows your password, they will not be able to access your account without the second verification step.
How to Enable Two-step Verification
Why is two-step verification required for some accounts?
Two-step verification is required if you receive payouts through Hyperwallet. Hyperwallet uses this additional security step to help protect your personal and financial information during the payout process.
If you choose to receive your payout as a Sweetwater gift card only, two-step verification is not required, though it is still strongly recommended for account security.
Even if you are not currently using Hyperwallet, enabling two step verification is one of the best ways to keep your Gear Exchange account safe. It only takes a few minutes to set up and provides long term protection for your account and transactions.
