Gymnasium audio system

System description

This capable gymnasium audio system is designed to provide even, full-range sound to all participants on the gym floor, home side bleachers and guest side bleachers for music and speech reinforcement and playback. It’s specifically designed to overcome the high energy game-day sound levels where there is a lot of crowd participation in the game.

In this facility, the bleachers on both the home and guest side are retractable to allow the gym to function as one primary basketball/volleyball court with crowd seating or as two practice courts with no crowd seating. The audio system is designed with the flexibility to be used in both configurations, but its primary function is for single-court use with a crowd.

An audio input plate is installed in the middle of the bleachers on the home side providing both wired and Bluetooth audio connection for owner-furnished audio sources and/or portable mixer to connect to the system. Another wired and Bluetooth audio connection for the owner-furnished audio source and/or portable mixer to connect to the system is also included.

A wireless handheld microphone and wireless lapel microphone are included for speaking during the games or events in the gym. For ease of use, a wall-mounted touch panel is provided for making audio adjustments and controlling the system.

Banquet hall A/V system

System description

This system is designed for a multi-function use space that requires a flexible use AVL system to support events that will be held in the space. There are two options for a front (or stage area) – Plan: East and Plan: North, both centered on the wall. The main, primary front stage area is Plan: East. The secondary front stage area is Plan: North.

Sweetwater audio systems for the main/primary stage area are designed to provide even, full-range sound to all participants for music and speech reinforcement and playback, supporting several types of uses: small live group music events, podium led speakers, group singing, group speakers, speakers with crowd participation, and video playback. The primary use of this space will be for wedding banquets, small weddings, funerals, conferences, and large group meetings. For occasional wedding dance or live high-level performances, higher-powered portable systems will be owner-provided to support those events.

Two wireless handheld microphones are included as well as the HDMI and VGA audio that operates in both basic and advanced operating modes. A small, portable rack can be used for both front stage locations, including a small audio mixer, two additional wireless handheld microphones, one lapel wireless microphone, one head-worn wireless microphone, CD player with Bluetooth, a BYOD input, wired stage microphones and stage monitor feeds.

Two large video displays are provided left and right of the main/primary stage on the Plan: East wall. The video displays source inputs at the secondary stage wall plate 1, main stage left wall plate 2, main stage right wall plate 3, Plan: South wall plate 4, and Plan: West wall plate 5. Each of the wall plates provide HDMI and VGA with Audio input. The video displays can mirror content fed from video inputs from the various wall plates throughout the room.

The secondary stage does not have installed speaker systems or video displays. It has wall plate hookups to support the audio-video needs via a portable rack and owner furnished portable speakers and portable displays.

Since the Banquet Hall is a flexible use space, Sweetwater Integration configured the AVL systems for both simple and complex use. The design provides wall-mounted touch panels located at (or near) each stage location and each of the “front of house” locations (total of 4 locations) for presenters to make audio and video adjustments, control the system, and mix audio. For ease of use, the system turns on automatically when a video source is sensed, and automatically turns off when the room is unoccupied.

For advanced users, touch panels feature a user log-in to allow more complicated room system setups and system configurations, audio mixing, control, and system overrides such as disabling the room’s auto-off function. The wall plate locations will route microphone inputs, audio inputs, monitor outputs, digital snake, DMX, HD-SDI in and out, LAN, and Video to support patching between stage and FOH locations for a fully flexible mix-use space audio.

Church full AVL system

System description

The audio systems for this project are designed to provide even, full-range sound to all participants for music and speech reinforcement and playback.

Five floor pockets are distributed across the stage and contain a variety of microphone, data, coax, and loudspeaker connections. The microphone connections are terminated to a digital stage rack in the main equipment rack.

Data connections at the floor pockets are terminated to a data patch panel at the main equipment rack for use with a future personal monitor mixing system.

Loudspeaker connections at the floor pockets are terminated to a loudspeaker patch panel. A four-channel amplifier allows patching of four independent monitor mixes to any loudspeaker connection onstage through the patch panel.

Seven owner-furnished wireless microphone systems, six wireless IEM systems, and all associated distribution and antenna equipment will be integrated at front-of-house and mixable from the new mixing console.

Existing playback equipment is to be reused as well. A stereo room microphone will be mounted for use in IEM mixes and in any recordings or video streams.

Sound reinforcement within the room is provided by a stereo pair of powered constant curvature line arrays. A center-hung 4-box subwoofer array provides low frequency reinforcement. Four (4) delay loudspeakers provide reinforcement for the stadium seating at the rear of the room.

Centralized audio processing is mounted within a new floor-mount equipment rack to distribute signal to all system outputs. Manufacturer-specific processing for the array and side fills is provided within the amplifiers for those systems.

Four new ceiling loudspeakers are mounted in the Foyer ceilings outside the Sanctuary to provide service audio to this space.

All audio system devices reside on a dedicated audio system network. A WAP on this network allows remote connection of an iPad to the mixing console. A bank of IP addresses and subnet information is used so the audio system can reside as a subnetwork on the church’s larger IT network for remote management and connection to the Internet.

The video systems for this project are designed to provide good viewing angles and proper display sizing for image magnification/text only viewing/video playback.

The video display system in the Sanctuary is comprised of a left/right configuration of 16’ x 9’ projection screens and a custom 102” x 324” center screen. Four video projectors will provide signal for the outer projection screens and the edge blended image for the center screen. A fifth projector is provided for confidence projection on the rear wall of the Sanctuary.

An owner-furnished iMac will serve as the primary source for the projection systems; a new ProPresenter license will be provided with appropriate modules to allow multiscreen projection and edge blending for the center screen. A graphics expander at the computer locations allows the video to be distributed to all five projectors.

An owner-furnished video production system is installed, including a production switcher, SDI router, card-based video recorder, and computer for control. The signal distributed to the left, right, and confidence screen is fed by this production system, while the center screen is fed directly from the graphics computer.

Four floor pockets throughout the Sanctuary allow camera connectivity for existing and future video cameras.

Video signal from the production system will also be distributed to three owner-furnished displays in the foyer and green room installed by Sweetwater Integration.

The lighting system for this project is designed to provide even coverage and proper lighting levels for the church’s various activities and services.
