Sweetwater Hosts Grammy-nominated Drummer Matt Halpern for Exclusive Drum Masterclass

Fort Wayne, Indiana. — (May 29, 2025) — Sweetwater is excited to welcome award-winning drummer, educator, and entrepreneur Matt Halpern for a special evening of drumming instruction on June 2. The “Anyone Can Groove Drum Masterclass” will offer valuable tips and techniques for drummers of all skill levels.  

A Grammy-nominated drummer, Halpern leads a masterclass that will help new and experienced drummers unlock their full drumming potential while emphasizing the joy of laying down a solid groove. Attendees will receive instruction, can participate in a Q&A session, and, will have the opportunity to  participate in an autograph signing with Halpern.  

Workshop highlights include: 

• Getting out of your head to truly enjoy playing  
• Developing your sense of timing through simple exercises  
• Choosing the best drums  
• Developing dynamic control by untying coordination knots  
• Setting up your drums  
• Exploring drum grooves through phrasing and improvisation 

Halpern is best known as the drummer for the acclaimed progressive-metal band Periphery, currently on tour with Coheed and Cambria. The tour includes a stop in Fort Wayne the day after the masterclass event at Sweetwater. Throughout the tour, Halpern has been offering VIP lessons before each show, making this Sweetwater event a unique opportunity for fans and drummers alike.
