Per MOTU the correct maximum length is 15 feet, which is the length of the cable that ships with the 2408. Also, because they use a Firewire style connection between the card and the interface many people have inferred that it is a Firewire based system, and thus works accordingly (long cable lengths, hot swappable, etc).
