In device manager, double click on &#8220;IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers&#8221;.  Right click the device immediately underneath and choose &#8220;update driver&#8221;.  Choose &#8220;browse my computer&#8230;&#8221;, then &#8220;let me pick from a list&#8230;&#8221;.  In the menu, choose &#8220;1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (legacy)&#8221; then press next. Once that is finished, download the updated 8 pre driver AND 8pre firmware from your MOTU account.
