This seems to be most common for people using automatic updates for Windows.

Here is a step-by-step way of handling the problem remotely so the computer does not have to be sent in.

1) Have the CU disconnect all devices plugged in to the USB ports including Mouse and Keyboard. Check to see if they have a PS2 Mouse or Keyboard around to plug into computer instead.

2) Boot Computer to see if Windows launches. If Windows boots and the CU has a PS2 device, go to step 3; else send PS2 Mouse and/or Keyboard care package. We will then need to follow up with the CU once they have the PS2 devices.

3) Once user has PS2 Mouse and Keyboard, have them boot up the computer with only the PS2 device(s) plugged-in and have them right click on My Computer, go to Properties -> Advanced tab -> Start-up and Recovery.

4) Click the check box to disable “Automatically Restart” under System Failure.

5) Then have the CU close out the windows and plug in USB device.

6) If a blue screen like stop 0X00000007E or 0X00000007F appears, remove USB device, restart computer with only PS2 device plugged in and have them launch Device Manager after the system reboots.

7) Go to the “Universal Serial Bus controllers” under Device Manager and Uninstall all USB controllers.

8) Once done, restart computer.

9) Let the OS install all USB controllers, restart when finished if needed, then attempt to plug in USB device with power like a ilok or mouse to test fix.

10) If CU has Sweetwater PS2 device care package, request it to be returned to Sweetwater with the enclosed return label.

[35973,36442

<meta property="og:description" content="This is being caused by corrupted USB drivers in the OS.
