Use of PLAY with multiple outputs in Logic will require you to modify Logic’s Environment. If you’ve never modified Logic’s Environment, we HIGHLY recommend that you look at Chapter 39 (page 857) in the Logic User Manual for information on using the Environment before you attempt the procedure below. The Environment is a custom programming window that allows you to get “under the hood” and modify the way Logic works…as such, it is very complicated and there is a lot to know and understand before you make changes.<\/p>\n
First, make sure to install the latest Play Software Update in order to use multiple outputs. To use multiple outputs with Play in Logic 8, do the following:<\/p>\n
1. Create a new Instrument track and open Play (Multi-out) from the ‘I\/O’ selector on the instrument’s channel strip. Load a patch in Play and set it to output ‘3 & 4’ instead of ‘1 & 2’.<\/p>\n
2. Open the Environment window, and from the ‘New’ menu in the Environment create a new channel strip – auxilliary track.<\/p>\n
3. In the new Aux channel strip switch it to stereo from mono by clicking on the small circle at the bottom of the channel strip.<\/p>\n
4. Under the ‘I\/O’ selector on the Aux channel strip set this to the Instrument Output you want (Play 3-4).<\/p>\n
You should now see your Play instrument outputting on the new outputs (3-4 in this example).
