What can I do?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have found some cases where AVG&#8217;s antivirus software is detecting the file &#8216;DirectIO.dll&#8217; as a virus and quarantines or removes the file from the computer, causing Pro Tools not to open on Windows systems.<\/p>\n<p>To get around this, we recommend removal of the AVG software from the computer and then a run-through of our PC Optimization Guides:<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/ts\/detail.php?Index=30058<br \/>https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/ts\/detail.php?Index=30083<\/p>\n<p>After completing both guides, completely uninstall Pro Tools.  You can do this in one of two ways:<\/p>\n<p>1) Using the &#8220;Add or Remove Programs&#8221; control panel, choose &#8220;Remove,&#8221; then choose the option to uninstall &#8220;Pro Tools, Device Drivers, Preferences, Databases and MIDI Devices\/Patch Settings.&#8221;  This is the best uninstallation option.<\/p>\n<p>2) Follow Knowledge Base article 31656 (https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/ts\/detail.php?Index=31656&#038;keyword=surgical%20uninstall).  Use this option only if the above removal is unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p>After uninstalling, reinstall Pro Tools.
