Yes!! Recently, firmware version 3.30 was released for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable). This firmware increases the resolution of videos that can be played to match the native LCD screen size (480×272) of the PSP® System.<\/p>\n
Sony Vegas 7.0 can create AVC (H.264) video using this larger frame size, but first you’ll need to create a new template:<\/p>\n
1. Use the “File > Render As” command.
2. Select the “Sony AVC\/AAC” format.
3. Click the “Custom” button.
4. Select the “QVGA – 896 Kbps” template.
5. Activate the “Video” tab.
6. Set the “Frame size” to “(Custom frame size)” and enter “480” for the Width and “272” for the Height.
7. Set the template name to “PSP Full Size” and click the “Save Template” button.
8. Press “OK”.<\/p>\n
Now that you have a template, rendering to the larger frame size is easy:<\/p>\n
1. Use the “File > Render As” command.
2. Select the “Sony AVC\/AAC” format.
3. Select the “PSP Full Size” template.
4. Set your filename and target location and click “Save”.
5. When the render is complete, copy the file to the “\\VIDEO” folder on your PSP, or to a folder created within the “\\VIDEO” folder.<\/p>\n
The PSP® firmware 3.30 can also show a thumbnail for the video. The thumbnail is a JPEG format image, no larger than 160×120. Vegas can create this thumbnail for you using two techniques. Use whichever works best for you.<\/p>\n
Thumbnail technique 1:<\/p>\n
Set your project format to 160×120, progressive scan, square pixels. Find a good thumbnail frame, and use the “Save Snapshot to File” button found on the Video Preview window. Name the image the same as the video and put it in the same location. You might save a project template with these settings if you plan to do this a lot, or write a Vegas script which does it for you.<\/p>\n
Thumbnail technique 2:<\/p>\n
Alternatively, use the “Tools > Export to PSP® (PlayStation®Portable)…” command to render your video and thumbnail. Use your new “PSP Full Size” template. Then, find you video and thumbnail file in the “\\MP_ROOT\\xxxAVV01” folder and move them into the “\\VIDEO” folder, or a folder below “\\VIDEO”. You can rename them to something descriptive, but keep the root part of the names matching so the thumbnail will be found.
