One is called the carbonized version, and this is what is compatible with OS X.  The &#8220;uncarbonized&#8221; version is for OS 9.  Sometimes on install in OS X, the uncarbonized version gets added to the same folder as the carbonized version, and this is what causes the glitchiness.
