There are several things that could potentially be happening:<\/p>\n
– Make sure you are saving to a valid drive. Double-check that the drive is formatted correctly, that it has enough free space, and that it is not too fragmented. Reformat, free up space, or defrag as necessary. – If you are recording to a Firewire drive on Windows, make sure that Windows firewall is not interfering with the 1394 connection. To check, go to Knowledgebase article number 30058 (The PC Optimization guide) and look under the section “Virus Protection, Firewalls, and Other Utilities.”
– Check which user account you are logged in to. During the installation, there should be a page to select who will be able to use Cubase. If you select “Just me,” then logging in to a different account will prevent you from using Cubase properly. You can get around this by reinstalling and choosing “Everyone,” or logging back in to the original account.
– Be sure that you have the latest version of Cubase. It is available here: http:\/\/www.steinberg.net\/288_1.html<\/a>
– Windows XP: Check your edition of Windows. You need to be running Windows XP, and using either the Home or Professional Edition. Media Center edition is incompatible with Cubase. Also, we STRONGLY advise that you optimize your system according to our PC Optimization Guide (KB article# 30058).<\/p>\n
