Core Audio in OS X will allow you to set audio buffer sizes as low as 32 bytes. Not all recording programs can handle these small buffer sizes gracefully, although TonePort generally has no problem with them. Using TonePort’s ToneDirect monitoring capacity, you won’t hear what your recording program is writing to disk and so may not hear potential problems. For that you must monitor through the program (which will increase latency, but will let you hear how the program is handling the audio that ‘s coming in from the TonePort interface). Our advice is to check to see whether your program can handle such small buffer sizes by monitoring through the program (usually called ‘software monitoring’ or something similar in the audio setup for the program) and doing a test recording. If you have problems, increase the buffer size. Once you have set a buffer size that works reliably, you can go back to the low-latency ToneDirect monitoring for your actual recording.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","categories":[],"tags":[35885,34461],"storecat":[],"itemids":[],"manufacturers":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\t\n
