You can choose from 9 different drum kits and over 350 patterns to assemble your own rhythm arrangements. You can also make your own patterns. When you create a new song, a short Rhythm Arrangement is already in place for you to play along to. A Rhythm Arrangement is simply a collection of patterns arranged by song structure to make a full length song.<\/p>\n<p>CHOOSE A RHYTHM ARRANGE:<br \/>1. Press EDIT above the Rhythm \/ Loop fader.<\/p>\n<p>2. CURSOR to the Pattern number in the &#8220;ARRANGE&#8221; box and use the dial to select a pre-arranged rhythm track. <\/p>\n<p>3. Press the ON\/OFF button once so it blinks.<\/p>\n<p>4. Press PLAY. <\/p>\n<p>5. To try a different arrangement, press STOP, then use the dial to select a different number. Press PLAY to hear it.<\/p>\n<p>6. Once you&#8217;ve found a Rhythm Arrange you like, cursor to BPM to adjust the tempo. Or, tap the tempo using the TAP button (at least 4 times) under the Rhythm Guide fader.<\/p>\n<p>7. You can also use the dial to try out different Drumkits. To do this, CURSOR to &#8220;DRUMKIT&#8221; and turn the TIME\/VALUE dial to select a different kit. <\/p>\n<p>EDIT THE RHYTHM ARRANGE:<br \/>1. CURSOR to &#8220;EDIT&#8221;, then press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>2. Press ZERO to rewind to the beginning of the song. <\/p>\n<p>3. For each section of your song, use the cursors and dial to choose a Pattern number, a section, and how many measures you want the section to play.<\/p>\n<p>4. Select &#8220;P&#8221; for a preset rhythm. <\/p>\n<p>5. Dial in the Pattern number.<\/p>\n<p>6. Cursor to form, and choose IN for intro, V for Verse, F for Fill, or END. <\/p>\n<p>7. Press the Fast Forward button to advance measure by measure.<\/p>\n<p>8. Continue entering patterns for the duration of your song.<\/p>\n<p>9. When finished, press ZERO to rewind to the beginning, then press PLAY.<\/p>\n<p>CREATE YOUR OWN PATTERN:<br \/>1. Press RHYTHM\/LOOP [EDIT]. <\/p>\n<p>2. CURSOR to &#8220;PTN,&#8221; then presses ENTER. <\/p>\n<p>3. Use the cursors and dial to set the rhythm pattern&#8217;s measure count and time signature.<\/p>\n<p>4. Press REC.<\/p>\n<p>5. Press PLAY. After a one-measure count, Realtime Recording begins.<\/p>\n<p>6. Play the drum kit by pressing the REC TRACK buttons:<\/p>\n<p>[1] Kick <br \/>[2] Snare <br \/>[3] Closed Hi Hat<br \/>[4] Open Hi Hat <br \/>[5] Low Tom <br \/>[6] Mid Tom <br \/>[7] High Tom<br \/>[8] Crash Cymbal<br \/>[9\/10] Ride Cymbal<br \/>[V-TRACK] + [1] Kick 2<br \/>[V-TRACK] + [2] Snare 2<br \/>[V-TRACK] + [3] Claves<br \/>[V-TRACK] + [4] Cow Bell <br \/>[V-TRACK] + [5] High Q<br \/>[V-TRACK] + [6] Metronome (Click) <br \/>[V-TRACK] + [7] Metronome (Bell) <\/p>\n<p>7. Press STOP.<\/p>\n<p>8. Press PLAY to hear your pattern.<\/p>\n<p>ERASING PARTS OF A PATTERN:<br \/>1. CURSOR to &#8220;REC&#8221; and press ENTER. Press REC and PLAY as if you were recording a pattern. Cursor to &#8220;ERASE,&#8221; then press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>2. Press and hold the track button the drum sound you want to erase.<\/p>\n<p>3. When you have finished erasing, press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>DISCRETE DRUMS<br \/>This section explains how to use the Discrete Drums files to create your own drum tracks. Start by creating a new song.<\/p>\n<p>Create a New Song:<br \/>1. Press UTILITY.<\/p>\n<p>2. Cursor to &#8220;SONG&#8221; and press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>3. Cursor to &#8220;NEW&#8221; and press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>4. Cursor down to &#8220;GO&#8221; and press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>5. The Display asks &#8220;Save Current?&#8221;. TO store the current changes in your song, press YES. Oterhwise, press EXIT for NO.<\/p>\n<p>Rhythm Guide:<br \/>Next &#8211; set the tempo for this new song.<br \/>1. Press EDIT above the Rhythm Guide fader.<\/p>\n<p>2. Cursor to &#8220;BPM=&#8221; and use the dial to change this to &#8220;136&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>3. Cursor to &#8220;100&#8221; underneath the letters RHY, and use the dial to set this to zero. This turns the volume of the built-in PCM drum sounds all the way down, so all you&#8217;ll hear are the .WAV drums. <\/p>\n<p>4. Press the ON\/OFF button once so it is blinking. This means the Rhythm Guide will only sound after you press PLAY. <\/p>\n<p>5. Make sure the fader for the Rhythm Guide is up.<\/p>\n<p>Import the Files:<br \/>Now we&#8217;re ready to import the .WAV files on the Discrete Drums CD ROM to the BR-1180&#8217;s hard drive.<\/p>\n<p>1. Place the Discrete Drums disc into the CDR tray.<\/p>\n<p>2. Wait for the CDR drive indicator to stop flashing. Then press LOOP PHRASE IMPORT.<\/p>\n<p>3. Cursor to &#8220;IMPORT&#8221; and press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>4. The list of the different Discrete Drums performances appears. <\/p>\n<p>5. Cursor down to &#8220;SLAM IT&#8221; and press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>6. Cursor to the DRUMS folder and press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>7. To quickly import all the files in this folder, cursor to &#8220;ALL&#8221;, then press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>8. The 1180 will choose Bank A to import the files. Cursor to GO, and press ENTER.<\/p>\n<p>9. The BR-1180CD imports the files. When &#8220;Complete!&#8221; appears, the import is finished.<\/p>\n<p>Assign Loops to Track Buttons:<br \/>You can use the Track Buttons to fly loops right into the Rhythm guide. This is a very fast and easy way to build your own drum tracks based on song structure. First, assign different loop phrases to the Track Buttons. <\/p>\n<p>1. Press LOOP PHRASE IMPORT.<\/p>\n<p>2. Cursor to &#8220;BUTTON ASSIGN&#8221; and press ENTER. <\/p>\n<p>3. Then cursor to &#8220;&#8212;&#8221; and use the dial to change this to &#8220;A005&#8221; for the INTRO. <\/p>\n<p>4. Continue to assign the loops to different Track buttons as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Tr: 1 A005 INTRO<br \/>Tr: 2 A006 VERSE<br \/>Tr: 3 A004 FILL<br \/>Tr: 4 A002 BRIDGE<br \/>Tr: 5 A001 BREAK<br \/>Tr: 6 A003 END CRASH<\/p>\n<p>5. To hear a loop, simply press the TRACK button under each fader. Press the button again to stop the loop.<\/p>\n<p>Bring Loops into Rhythm Guide:<br \/>Now you&#8217;re ready to fly these loops into the Rhythm Guide using a process called &#8220;Step Sequencing&#8221;. It&#8217;s real easy to do. Just decide on your song structure, and then press the Track button. If you know how dial a phone, you can make your own drum tracks quickly and easily. The sections of each part of the Discrete Drums loops are assigned to the Track buttons as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Button 1 INTRO<br \/>Button 2 VERSE<br \/>Button 3 FILL<br \/>Button 4 BRIDGE<br \/>Button 5 BREAK<br \/>Button 6 END CRASH<\/p>\n<p>1. Press EDIT.<\/p>\n<p>2. Cursor to &#8220;EDIT&#8221; and press [ENTER]. <\/p>\n<p>3. Cursor down to the bottom line of the Rhythm Arrange Edit screen.<\/p>\n<p>4. Press ZERO to rewind to the beginning of the song.<\/p>\n<p>5. Press the Track buttons in the following order: 1, 2, 2, 3, 4&#8230;&#8230;2, 2, 5, 4, 3, and 6 for an ending.<\/p>\n<p>6. Press ZERO, then PLAY.<\/p>\n<p>7.
