If by chance the engineer “consolidated” the files to measure 1 in ProTools<\/strong>, they should all be the same size. (Consolidating<\/strong> is the PT term for creating a new audio file – you can select the entire session and make each track have one long region. In Logic, this would be done by bouncing one track at a time<\/em>.) If the files associated with each session are all the exact same length, they may have consolidated them. Simply add them to the Logic<\/strong> session, all with the same start time.<\/p>\n

Follow these instructions for each session:<\/h2>\n
Step 1 – Open the Pro Tools Session and Save<\/h5>\n

If the total track count is allowed by the version of PT you are using (24 for PT Free, 32 for PT LE), the session should open as normal. If the track count exceeds the limit, a window will open, telling you what tracks have been left out, and you will want to save this info.<\/p>\n

Now that your session consists of 24\/32 tracks, save the new session by clicking\u00a0Save As<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 2 – Consolidate Tracks<\/h5>\n

Select all of the audio in the session with the cursor tool (to the left of the hand tool). In the grey B<\/em>ar and beat ruler<\/em>, select a point that is after the end of the song (to the right of the last region), hold Shift<\/em> and click\u00a0Return<\/em>. At this point all regions of the session should be selected. Next, go to the Edit menu and choose\u00a0Consolidate Selection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Your regions can now be brought into a Logic session!<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>:\u00a0If tracks were dropped, print out the list of dropped tracks. Delete all of the tracks with the newly consolidated regions, so there are no tracks in the session. Select the tracks by Option-clicking on the track name, and Delete Tracks<\/strong> from the File menu.<\/em><\/p>\n

Step 3 – Import Tracks<\/h5>\n

In the File menu, click\u00a0Import Tracks<\/strong>, and select the next bank of tracks you need.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>:\u00a0Once opened in the session, the tracks should be consolidated as the previous tracks were.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
