Make sure the USB Duo is NOT connected to the computer and no application is open before beginning the installation!<\/p>\n
This guide explains the Windows XP installation of the new M-Audio Duo USB driver, starting from Version 1.28rc2. Previous version of the driver install differently! <\/p>\n
1) Please download the driver version 1.28rc2 from our webpage. Click here to go to our driver download page. <\/p>\n
2) In the field “Product”, select the “Duo USB”. <\/p>\n
3) In the field “Any”, select “Windows XP”. <\/p>\n
4) Click “Submit”. <\/p>\n
5) Click on the Filename “Duo128rc2Beta.exe” to download the archive containing the driver. Make sure to save it to your desktop.<\/p>\n
6) Insert a formatted and empty floppy disk in the floppy drive. <\/p>\n
7) Double-click the downloaded file (Duo128rc2Beta.exe) to open the extraction tool that helps you to extract the driver installer to the floppy disk. <\/p>\n
8) Click “Extract”. <\/p>\n
9) When “Extraction completed. Do you want to run the following program” is displayed, make sure to click “Yes”. This readme file will give you some additional tips for the installation. Close this window once you read the document completely. <\/p>\n
10) Click on the “Start” button and then on “My Computer”.<\/p>\n
11) Double-click “3 1\/2 Floppy (A:)”. <\/p>\n
12) Double-click “Duo_12800-rc2_web.exe” to run the driver installer. <\/p>\n
13) This wizard will guide you through the installation process. CAREFULLY READ the displayed instructions – click “Next” once you have read and understood the instructions. <\/p>\n
14) When prompted, connect the Duo USB to your computer’s USB port and to a power outlet. Power on the Duo. <\/p>\n
15) (*) A screen stating that “The Software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing…” will be displayed at various points during this installation. Please make sure to click “Continue Anyway” every time this screen pops up. (More Information about this at the end of this guide).<\/p>\n
16) In the Background, the computer will start copying the necessary files for all the components of the Duo USB. You can follow the progress by looking at the small display in the right lower corner of the screen (around the area where you can see the clock). The process will be done once “Found New Hardware Wizard. Your new hardware is installed and ready to use” will be temporarily displayed here.<\/p>\n
17) You will be brought back to the “M-Audio USB Duo Installed Successfully” screen. Click “Finish” to start using the Duo USB. <\/p>\n
(*) The message “The Software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing…” is nothing you need to be worried about. We wrote the drivers specifically for Windows XP and they will work just fine with your system.
