Make sure the USB Duo is NOT connected to the computer and no application is open before beginning the installation!<\/p>\n
This guide explains the Windows 2000 installation of the new M-Audio USB Duo driver, starting from Version 1.28. Previous version of the driver install differently! <\/p>\n
1) Please download the driver version 1.28rc2 from our webpage. Click here to go to the drivers page. <\/p>\n
2) In the field “Select Product”, select the “Duo USB”. <\/p>\n
3) In the field “Any”, select “Windows 2000”. <\/p>\n
4) Click “Submit”. <\/p>\n
5) Click on the Filename “Duo128rc2Beta.exe” to download archive containing the driver. Make sure to save it to your desktop.<\/p>\n
6) Insert a formatted and empty floppy disk in the floppy drive. <\/p>\n
7) Double-click the downloaded file (Duo128rc2Beta.exe) to open the extraction tool that helps you to extract the driver installer to the floppy disk. <\/p>\n
8) Click “Extract”. <\/p>\n
9) When “Extraction completed. Do you want to run the following program” is displayed, make sure to click “Yes”. This readme file will give you some additional tips for the installation. Close this window once you read it completely. <\/p>\n
10) Double-click “My Computer” on the Desktop.<\/p>\n
11) Double-click “3 1\/2 Floppy (A:)”. <\/p>\n
12) Double-click “Duo_12800-rc2_web.exe” to run the driver installer. <\/p>\n
13) This wizard will guide you through the installation process. CAREFULLY READ the displayed instructions – click “Next” button once you have read and understood the instructions. <\/p>\n
14) (*) A screen titled “Digital Signature not found” will be displayed at various points during this installation. Click “Yes” every time this screen pops up (…please check the end of this guide for more information on this). <\/p>\n
15) When prompted, connect the Duo to your computer’s USB port and to a power outlet and power it on.<\/p>\n
16) Windows will recognize the Duo USB and automatically copy the driver files to the right locations. <\/p>\n
17) Once the copying process is done, you will be brought back to the “M-Audio USB Duo Installed Successfully” screen. Click “Next”.<\/p>\n
18) The Driver Installer will inform you that your computer needs to be restarted to complete the installation. Make sure “Yes, restart my computer now” is checked and click “Finish”. The computer will restart automatically. <\/p>\n
19) After your computer has started up, the M-Audio Duo USB will be ready to be used.<\/p>\n
(*) The “Digital Signature Not Found” message is nothing you need to be worried about. We wrote the drivers specifically for Windows 2000 and they will work just fine with your system.
