Although the patch names or instrument definitions are not supported in Pro Tools for PC, you can still change patches for each MIDI track numerically.<\/p>\n
Under rec, read, solo, and mute buttons, there is a button which will say none by default. If you click this, a patch number box will pop up. Here you can select the patch number and bank number. You will have to enter both of these numerically. You can check your keyboard’s bank select method- there are two options available in this box: controller 0 (MSB) and controller 32 (LSB). Some keyboards (like most Roland and Yamaha keyboards) use both to obtain the correct patch.<\/p>\n
Say a 12-string guitar patch is in bank 1 patch number 48, and your keyboard uses controller 0 (MSB) to select banks. In Pro Tools, you would simply put 48 in Patch and 1 in Controller 0, leaving Controller 32 empty.<\/p>\n
* on some keyboards, there is an offset of 1 because Pro Tools uses patch numbers 1 through 128 and some keyboards use 0 through 127, so you may have to manually offset the number. There usually is no way to change this.<\/p>\n
