There are a number of ways to use Hyperscribe in Finale or Allegro. This article outlines steps on recording your music to a click (metronome). For details on the many options and other methods, consult your User Manual.<\/p>\n
First, set up your recording options and quantization settings. Many of these are the default settings and they will be retained once they are set.<\/p>\n
1. Choose the HyperScribe Tool.
2. From the Hyper Scribe menu, choose HyperScribe Options.
* For Receive On, choose “All Channels”.
* Click OK.
3. From the HyperScribe menu, choose Record Mode >> Record into One Staff.
4. From the HyperScribe menu, choose Beat Source >> Playback and\/or Click…
* for Beat Equals, choose the quarter note.
* for Tempo, enter 60
* check “Play Staves While Recording”.
* set Start Signal for Recording to “None (Record Immediately)”
* click on the “Click and Countoff” button…
* set Countoff to “While Recording”
* for Measures, enter 2.
* set Click to “While Recording”
* for Metronome Sound, Down Beats: Channel 10, Note 37, Velocity 127, Duration 50. Other Beats: Channel 10, Note 37, Velocity 100, Duration 25.
* click OK twice.<\/p>\n
5. From the Options menu, choose Quantization Settings…
* for Smallest Note Value, choose the 16th note.
* choose “Mixed Rhythms”
* click on the “More Settings” button…
* check “Retain Key Velocities”
* check “Retain Note Durations”
* uncheck “Include Voice 2”
* uncheck “Allow Dotted Rests”
* check “Soften Syncopations”
* for Very Short Notes, set Remove Notes Smaller Than 20 EDUs, Then choose “Allow Grace Notes”
* check “Minimize Number of Rests”
* uncheck “Sensitivity Level”
* click OK twice.<\/p>\n
Now you are ready to record something.<\/p>\n
1. Click in the middle of measure 1.
2. The Hyperscribe frame should appear around the measure, and you should hear clicks through your computer speakers or your MIDI output device.
3. After 8 clicks (2 measures of 4\/4), began playing a simple 8th note melody.
4. After a few measures, click outside of the Hyperscribe frame to stop the recording.
