{"id":23819,"date":"2001-07-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2001-07-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/?p=23819"},"modified":"2007-04-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-04-27T00:00:00","slug":"mac-os-x-pro-tools-warning","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/mac-os-x-pro-tools-warning\/","title":{"rendered":"Mac OS X and Pro Tools &#8211; Warning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>October 12, 2001 &#8211; UpdateOS X is currently not supported with Pro Tools, but it is not necessary to remove OS X from the new Quicksilver G4 models that ship with a dual boot system of both OS 9.2 and OS X pre-installed by Apple.For more information on Mac OS X and the latest &#8220;Quicksilver&#8221; G4 models, please see the 2001 G4 Qualification and Mac OS pages in the Digidesign Compatibility Documents:http:\/\/www.digidesign.com\/compatoThe following still holds true, however, for earlier models that did not ship with OS X\/OS 9 pre-installed by Apple:July 17, 2001 &#8211; Original WarningInstalling OS X on the same computer that you run OS 9.x with Pro Tools can cause serious file corruption and permanent damage to Pro Tools-related disk directories.We have received reports that some users have installed Mac OS X on the same computer with their Pro Tools system. Pro Tools will not run at all on OS X, but more importantly OS X should not be installed by users on the same partition or hard drive as the Mac 9.x Operating System that you use as your startup drive with your Pro Tools system. (exceptions to this are the newer &#8220;Quicksilver&#8221; G4 models which ship with both OS 9.2.x and OS X pre-installed by Apple) Even when using Pro Tools with the approved OS 9.0.4 or 9.1, there have been reports of unrecoverable Pro Tools errors on computers after users have installed OS X in addition to OS 9.x. Digidesign is currently investigating these reports along with our development partners, including Pace Anti-Piracy and Apple Computer.
