Begin Access Point:When a CD player is told to jump directly to a particular track, it mutes its audio outputs, and searches across the CD to find the start of the audio material in that track, called the track’s Begin Access Point (actually, the track’s Index 1 point). When it finds the right point, it un-mutes its audio outputs and starts playing. Because a CD player takes a finite amount of time to un-mute its audio outputs, a track’s begin access point should be slightly early. This way, the CD player’s audio outputs will be completely un-muted by the time the track’s audio starts.End Access Point:When a CD player is in random-play mode, and reaches the end of a track it is playing, it will mute its audio outputs, then search across the CD to find the start of the next random track to play. The place at the end of the track that the CD player will stop playing and jump to another track is called the track’s End Access Point (actually, the next track’s Index 0 point, or Index 1 point if no Index 0 point exists). Because a CD player takes a finite amount of time to mute its audio outputs, a track’s end access point should be slightly late.
