Before you start recording, you\u2019ll need to follow the registration procedure using the&nbsp;<strong>UA Connect<\/strong>&nbsp;app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"UA-Connect\"><em>UA Connect<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Connect your Volt directly to your Mac or Windows computer with a USB-C data cable. The Volt will be powered over USB.<\/li><li>On your computer, go to the Universal Audio website and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uaudio.com\/pages\/register?family=volt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">log in to your account or create a new one<\/a>.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uaudio.com\/products\/ua-connect?srsltid=AU7gw4XtT8OE0U3FIVM4x6asettkp5m1_HsmWcfH6t9PNc-loJNU5b_x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download UA Connect<\/a>. Run the installer and launch the app.<\/li><li>In UA Connect, log in to your account.<\/li><li>Click on the Volt icon in the pane on the left.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>UA Connect will detect your Volt and walk you through registration and installation. Follow the on-screen instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If there\u2019s a firmware update available, then you will be asked to install it. Follow the instructions carefully; and don\u2019t disconnect your Volt or quit the UA Connect app while the update is being installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re on Windows, then you\u2019ll also see a link to install the ASIO driver, which is required. UAD Console lets you control many settings that you can make on the Volt\u2019s hardware buttons and knobs, but UAD Console is also where you control additional features that are only accessible in the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll leave UAD Console running whenever you use your DAW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On macOS, the first time you launch UAD Console, you\u2019ll be asked to grant permission for the app to \u201caccess the microphone.\u201d This is a security setting for macOS that actually permits the app to receive all audio input.
